Profile of math specialist Jerry Guo Jiayu

A MOE Secondary Scholar (The Chinese High School), Pre U Scholar (Hwa Chong Junior College) and MOE U Scholar (NUS engineering bachelor), Jerry holds a NUS Master of financial engineering degree and graduated as the TOP student (won DBS Gold Medal for being the best final year student). Due to his excellent results, he was invited to be the teaching assistant for NUS MFE module Stochastic Calculus and Quantitative Methods in 2013. He was working as quantitative analyst in UK financial giant Standard Chartered bank before becoming a full time Math curriculum writer and trainer.

Jerry has a special talent in mathematics, and has won numerous top awards including 1998 and 1999 Gold Prizes in Singapore Math Olympiad (Senior Section), 1st Prize in China All Secondary School Math Competition, Distinctions in American Math Competition and Prize Certificate (highest prize) in Australian Math Competition. Jerry also led the Chinese High team to win Team 2nd in 1999 NJC All Secondary School Math Competition, and he emerged as Individual 2nd in the same competition.

Always enjoys teaching, Jerry has more than 10 years’ experience in tutoring Math and Olympiad Math. Thanks to his deep understanding of the subject, Jerry is able to link different topics together and help students build connections between various knowledge blocks. Hence give them an edge in understanding the chapters and solving challenging problems. Moreover, his extensive industrial experience allows him to illustrate the actual application of math in financial modeling and engineering so that students can better appreciate the subject.
